Kohaku the Kitsune is a commissioned work. The customer provided me with a general color scheme - burgundy tails, neck, and ears, with a white/pale grey body and face, pink inner ears, and pupiless red eyes. I’m wary of solid colors for the bodies of my creatures, but after confirming that I had artistic liberty to add some shading and details, I decided it would be ok - and I am glad I did. This fox turned out to be a lovely mix of striking, scary, cute, and regal.
Kohaku has a resin cast face and feet, and a plush body built over a sturdy posable wire armature. The fur is synthetic. He is detailed with acrylic paints, and the resin sections are sealed with polyurethane finishes. The gold bracelets are made of reclaimed leather.
